Incredible storm and hail in Dobele, Latvia Severe storm with heavy rain, gusty winds and large hail that swept across western and central parts of Latvia on Monday caused devastation to property and destroyed crops, local authorities said. Social media has been alive with video and picture footage from the storm and its trail of destruction, many of them relayed by local residents. Estonia and Lithuania are also being affected by the extreme weather conditions. In Dobele, central Latvia, wind gusts once reached 33 meters per second during the storm, the highest wind speed recorded in the country in recent decades.
