i sip my drip up in my morning
you’re out late dancing in your night
i walk out into the streets
you go home dip into your sheets
ships in the night
chips in the bed
i’m stuck at the dock
with shit in my teeth
i don’t sleep i’m just up waiting on my phone
i wanna share a timezone
you bring me breakfast in the morning
it’s just a picture i can’t eat
you must be green from all that julia roberts
there’s nothing in my fridge
just maybe some
ships in the night
chips in the bed
i’m stuck at the dock
with shit in my teeth
i dont sleep im just up waiting on my stupid phone
i wanna share a timezone
...RØR - a musical project created by Kaya Wilkins and Stix Omar in New York in 2018 in the romance of their sexual relationship
Their 2019 5 track EP ARE WE STILL TALKING never saw a release in the aftermath of the breakup and other projects, but was performed twice in Paris and once in Oslo
Is it safe to mix business and pleasure?
Is it possible for a creative person not to?
Are we still talking?
Ships In The Night is a song from the EP.
A song about a long distance relationship and dealing with phones and timezones.
Julia Roberts is the name of a smoothie Kaya and Stix shared at a cafe in Berlin in 2019
Two years later the ships have been sailing different routes in and out of relation on different waters around the world twice day and night and back into the same dry dock of Berlin and out again. At one point nothing made more sense than Danskebåten
19 hours on the DFDS Queen Of Scandinavia offers 3 crew assisted potty breaks for your animal. Telling your friends Bye I’m about to board a cruise ship with my ex to take me from Copenhagen to Oslo and it takes 19 hours, that might seem like an exaggerated amount of travel time
But what about all that other time, time that passed in between the idea of a song describing the current struggle of your relationship and now, a music video, isn’t it sweet that when you thought that ship had sailed you can find each other on a dock in the middle to discover you still have the same shit stuck up in your crooked teeth and that the title of your unreleased EP is an ever burning current?
