I couldn’t be more excited to share a new adventure with you: HIGH KINGS RISING! This project has been brewing for a while, and I’ve poured everything into it—writing and recording a massive collection of songs inspired by the classic Heavy Rock that got me hooked on music and guitar back in the ’80s! If you’ve been following my journey, you know my Solo music centers on guitar mastery, while LORDS OF BLACK leans into ProgPower Metal, and RESTLESS SPIRITS has a Melodic/AOR Hard Rock vibe. HIGH KINGS RISING is all about pure, Classic Heavy Rock with those timeless ‘70s and ‘80s vibes. I took an “old school” approach, capturing the music in a way that’s true to the era—using classic tube amps and vintage recording techniques, right down to the drums, guitars and everyhthing else. This is raw, powerful rock the way it was meant to be! Today, I’m thrilled to drop the first single and video, “Ride Like Lightning (Crash Like Thunder)”, featuring the amazing Johnny Gioeli. Johnny’s been one of my favorite vocalists forever, and we’ve worked together on some great songs before, so I couldn’t imagine anyone else bringing this track to life—he’s simply the best when it comes to this style! I also would like to mention exceptional drummer Matt De Vallejo who is one of the best! The song itself is a high-energy rocker and the lyrics are inspired by the thrills of the ‘80s Group B Rally Championship, which I was a big fan of as a kid.
