Damn, that’s interesting!

The Species Problem has plagued biologists going back as far as Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace. Most modern biology textbooks promote the biological species concept as the definition for what is a species. But the biological species concepts doesn’t work for hermaphroditic organisms, asexual organisms, fossils, or microbes. How do we classify these species? What if the biological species concept is wrong? what if species dont exist? And even if they do exist, why does it seem like biologists don’t know what a species is? Sources:
