The Stains of Time (Phnom-enal Mix)

I’m a terrible person JUST for that title. Just for that. I’d like to save the GRAD Mix for the mixing tutorial video, and I had a space of free time while I was at school, where I didn’t have access to the computer I need to make the tutorial not have terrible jumpy video quality. So instead, I just made this mix, ’cause I figured I’d end up doing it eventually anyway. For this one, I wanted to make the introduction atmospheric to the environment that the boss fight takes place in, similar to my Spirit of the Wolf mix from January. I also wanted to make it quieter, so that it sort of “rises“ out of the background noise. Ideally, I wanted it to almost sound like a prayer- or edict-of-sorts, but the vocals were a little too loud for that, so I just let it play out normally, lol. I added a little bit of rain and thunder, and then pretty much stuck to the standard formula for these mid-game boss tracks: instrumental, vocal bridge with refrain, and then Maniac Agenda/Platinum, in that order. It’s basic, and there are a few small things I wouldn’t mind changing. In particular, the Maniac Agenda track is kind of strange balance-wise between the vocals and instruments, but maybe that’s just me. Either way, I’m satisfied with how this one played out. “The Stains of Time“ was composed by Jamie Christopherson, as a part of the OST for “Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance“. I claim no ownership of the Instrumental or the Maniac Agenda mixes, but I do claim responsibility for mixing these two together to create the final product that you’re listening to. Hope you enjoyed the mix! If I have some free time when I get home over the next couple of weekends, I’ll work on getting that tutorial out for everyone; otherwise, I’ll move on to Red Sun next. :)
