Bathing a baby wombat

Nugget has had a persistent dry cough and a constant itch. There is no obvious cause other than, perhaps, an allergy to something in his environment. Today I gave him an oatmeal bath to ease his itch, at the same time as giving him a steam bath, which helps his cough for a few days. He was much more compliant than I expected, perhaps because his bath was warm and he was sleepy. He went straight back to sleep afterwards. If this isn’t successful we may need to treat him with antihistamine, which we would prefer not to do if we can help it.
