Song of Proclamation of the People’s Republic 인민 공화국 선포 의 노래 - DPRK Chongbong Band (eng. sub.)

The Meaning of September 9 September 9 is the founding day of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Greeting the day every year, the Korean people look back on the immortal exploits of the great leader Kim Il Sung who liberated the country from the Japanese imperialists and built a new country whose masters are the people. In the first half of the 20th century the Korean people lived as slaves under the Japanese imperialist colonial rule for over 40 years. The 5,000-year-long history and culture of the Korean nation were almost eclipsed and the Korean spoken and written languages and surnames and names totally obliterated. When Korea was on the way to extinction on the earth, Kim Il Sung set out on the road of revolution in his early years, taking the destiny of the fellow countrymen upon himself. He accomplished the historic cause of national liberation on August 15, Juche 34(1945) and three years later, founded a people’s democratic state, the first of its kind in the East, on September 9, Juche 37(1948). Since the founding of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea the Korean people could become a dignified and happy people fully enjoying an independent and creative life as masters of their destiny. One day, a few days before September 9, tens of years ago, the great leader Kim Jong Il told officials that September 9 is of great significance as the great leader Kim Il Sung was elected the first head of an independent, sovereign state on the day. He said in an emotion-charged tone it was at the age of 37 when Kim Il Sung founded the DPRK and was elected the head of the state. He went on to say that there are many leaders in the world but there was no such a leader as Kim Il Sung who set out on the road of revolution in his early years and led the unprecedentedly arduous anti-imperialist national liberation revolution to victory and was elected the head of state at so young an age. The instructions he gave on the day had a deep meaning that as Kim Il Sung is great, so are our country and our nation and he is just our motherland. That is why the Korean people hold the great leader Kim Il Sung in high esteem as the eternal President of the DPRK. (Voice of Korea)
