Z tank fires at buildings near Azovstal steelworks where Ukrainians hold out against Russians

Footage released by the Azov Battalion on May 1 shows a tank firing at close range at a building near the Azovstal steelworks in Mariupol, where members of the regiment continue to hold out against Russian forces. Storyful has not verified the date of recording, but confirmed it was filmed just meters away from the Azovstal steel plant. The footage, released by the far-right paramilitary group absorbed into the Ukrainian National Guard, shows the tank, marked with the letter ‘Z’, a symbol widely used to distinguish Russian military, firing at a building. Later in the footage, people in civilian clothing can be seen outside the building. The Azov Battalion said 16 civilians had been hiding in the basement and that Russian forces had removed them from the destroyed building. Storyful has not been able to confirm this. On May 1, a group of civilians was evacuated from the nearby Azovstal steelworks, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky. The Sun newspaper brings you the lat
