Porsche 911 S/T review - is it Porsche’s greatest 911 yet?

This is the new Porsche 911 S/T. And the good people of Porsche’s GT division say that it’s nothing other than the most exciting 911 they’ve ever made. Which, given that even in recent history they’ve made the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 and the 911 R is no small claim. On the face of the S/T is a 911 GT3 with the engine out of a GT3 RS, but Porsche being Porsche things aren’t quite that simple. A raft of tweaks make the kerbweight 1380kg, very similar to the 911 R. It loses the GT3’s active rear steer, too, and there’s a lighter flywheel and clutch. This all places less demand on the 518bhp/525PS naturally-aspirated four-litre engine, so it spins and zings even more freely. The bald stats say this car can do 0-62mph in and has a top speed of 186mph. But there is much, much more to it than that.
