UK Christmas No.1 2001– Official Chart (3 weeks) Carson Parks was a folk singer in Los Angeles in the early 1960s. In 1963 he formed The Greenwoods, a group that included singer Gaile Foote. Parks and Foote married, and recorded the 1966 album San Antonio Rose, which included the song Somethin’ Stupid. The song is about a man’s unrequited love for an unattainable woman Frank Sinatra became aware of the song and, in 1967, recorded it with his daughter Nancy. It reached No.1 on both sides of the Atlantic and was nominated for the Grammy for Song of the Year. The song has been covered many times by different artists, including the version that appeared on Robbie Williams’ 2001 album Swing When You’re Winning, as a duet with American-Australian actress Nicole Kidman.
