Ringo Starr - Don’t Go Where The Road Don’t Go (Produced by Jeff Lynne)

Promo video for the 1992 Ringo Starr song. The song is from Ringo’s 1992 album “Time Takes Time“. It was written by Ringo Starr, Gary Grainger, and Johnny Warman and produced by Jeff Lynne. The lyrics of the song are about not going down a path that leads to trouble and staying true to oneself. Ringo Starr and Jeff Lynne are two legendary musicians who have collaborated on several projects over the years. Starr, the former drummer of The Beatles, and Lynne, the leader of Electric Light Orchestra, worked together on Starr’s 1992 album “Time Takes Time“. They also joined forces in 1995 to produce two new songs for The Beatles Anthology, “Free as a Bird“ and “Real Love“, using John Lennon’s demo tapes. Ringo Starr and Jeff Lynne have both collaborated with George Harrison, the former Beatle and solo artist. Ringo played drums on Harrison’s song “When We Was Fab“, which was co-written and produced by Lynne in 1987. The song was a tribute to the Beatles era and featured cameo’s by Ringo and Jeff on the video. In 2001, Jeff Lynne’s band, Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), released their twelfth studio album, Zoom. It was the first official ELO album since 1986’s Balance of Power. The album features guest appearances by Ringo and George Harrison. Ringo and Jeff have remained friends and have performed together at various events, such as Harrison’s memorial concert in 2002, Starr’s 70th birthday concert in 2010 and Olivia Harrison’s book launch in 2022. I woke up from a bad dream To the howling of a lonely night But the walls come closing in Like the victim of a one-way fight I don’t remember many yesterdays I left a lot of things undone Now I’m back and I’m here to say I’m looking after number one Don’t go, don’t go where the road don’t go Don’t go, don’t go where the road don’t go Seeing people on the freeway Takes me back to where I started from I was riding on the big wheel I was walking in a midnight sun Well, I did a lot of favors then I asked for nothing in return Now those friends have all disappeared I guess there’s still so much to learn Don’t go, don’t go where the road don’t go Don’t go, don’t go where the road don’t go Don’t go, don’t you go where the road don’t go ’Cause you’ll never run, you’ll never outrun the gun Well, I said it don’t come easy Well, I sure know how it feels Don’t go, don’t go where the road don’t go Don’t go, don’t go where the road don’t go Don’t go, don’t go where the road don’t go Don’t go, don’t go where the road don’t go Don’t go, don’t you go where the road don’t go ’Cause you’ll never run, you’ll never outrun the gun Don’t go, don’t go where the road don’t go Don’t go, don’t go where the road don’t go Don’t go, don’t you go where the road don’t go Written by Richard Starkey, Johnny Warman and Gary Grainger Produced by Jeff Lynne #ringostarr #thebeatles #jefflynne
