Meet Angela Spalla, the 103-year-old former Michigan Central worker
Angela Spalla (née Lombardo), celebrated her 103rd birthday on January 29, 2024. A dedicated Michigan Central Station employee in the 1940s, she still has her employee ID card from 1945.
She even helped her sister get a job at at the train station too. Some of her favorite memories are of spotting celebrities traveling to and from performances.
Watch the video to see her reaction as she steps inside The Station for the first time since Ford Motor Company’s historic restoration. See her story and others as part of our Faces of Michigan Central exhibit at OPEN House.
If you weren’t able to get tickets to our OPEN house exhibit, visitors can experience the first floor of The Station through self-guided tours beginning Friday, June 21.
