On 12 May 1996, Oasis’ Liam Gallagher took on Blur’s Damon Albarn in charity football match at Mile End stadium. Soccer Six was organised in benefit of Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Centre, but headlines saw it as a chance to settle the Oasis/Blur rivalry, known as the Battle of Britpop, once and for all. Liam Gallagher was seen getting in the face of Damon Albarn, but the intimidation tactics clearly didn’t work.
