Rachmoninoff Suite No. 2 for Two Pianos op 17 Argerich, Freire (Score)
Amazing duet performance of the greatest modern pianists, Martha Argerich, and Nelson Freire. Recorded in October 2003, in Tokyo.
Underrated composition by Rachmoninoff.
One of my favourite recordings by either of the two pianists, and in my opinion, a better and more convincing performance than Lugansky & Rodenko being more profound, quicker, and passionate in addition to better sound quality and a powerful loud piano and bass. Lugansky and Rodenko’s performance is still amazing but this one takes the cake. So much virtuosity, perfectly synced, amazing musicality and technique, and voicing such as in the repeated notes section, the valse, and pretty much the whole piece.
The technical and musical difficulties are very advanced but the hardest part must be syncopation as the pianists have to know each other and each others playing very much and these two pianists own it.
