Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 | PS5 | Fidelity (30 FPS) vs Performance Mode (60 FPS) | Graphics Comparison

A Huge Thanks to PlayStation for sending a review code of this game. So, probably the MOST anticipated game of the year, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is finally here. In terms of visuals and gameplay, its impeccable as we have come to expect from PlayStation and Insomniac games so far this generation. Like the previous ones, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 offers a 4K Fidelity Mode with Ray Tracing, which runs with a 30FPS cap. It also offers a Performance Mode, which too has Ray Tracing but with lower resolution and targeting a 60 FPS output. But how far are they in graphical fidelity when put against each other side by side. Does the visual improvements justify the 50% hit to the framerate ? Unlike its predecessor, Spider-Man 2 does not have any non RT mode, as they were magicians enough to include ray tracing features in both the 30FPS and the 60FPS modes. The real difference between these modes, comes down to resolution and Ray Tracing quality and textures in some cases. Other minor enhancements like Draw distance, NPC count, foliage density are slightly improved on the Fidelity Mode. In terms of Ray Tracing, both the modes have Ray Traced Reflections, however the 60FPS lacks the transparent reflections, which are much more computationally heavy. Other than that the Reflection resolution is naturally reduced on the performance mode along some other tweaks to the BVH structure.
