‘Berceuse’ by Eduardo Torres played by René Izquierdo and Ken Murray on Hanson N3 Classical Guitars
An impromptu duo put together by Ken Murray (University of Melbourne) and Rene Izquierdo (University of Milwaukee) during Rene’s visit to Melbourne for the 2023 Altamira x MCM Guitar Perspectives.
Eduardo Torres (1872-1934) was a composer and maestro de capital at Seville cathedral. His friendship with Manuel de Falla led to the formation of the Orquesta Bética, a Spanish chamber orchestra dedicated to the performance of 18th and 20th century music. His Berceuse for two guitars, which also exists in a version for organ, was published in the Argentinian magazine La guitarra, edited by Miguel Llobet.
Played on two Cedar Hanson N3 Double Top guitars, one brand new build from 2023 and one from 2017.
