On 26 June 2028, 2001 WN5 will make a close approach to Earth. It will pass within 160,000 miles from us. 2001 WN5 has a diameter of roughly 1 KM. Asteroids with such diameter strike every 500,000 years So, what if 2001 WN5 hits the Ocean? As the asteroid begin entering the atmosphere it will start breaking apart at ~65 km. It would strike the surface at ~30 km/s.
