The Image: The profoundly blue blue... (Images (!) here:) I always liked the ending monologue about ’running like sparks through the stubble...’ And of course that static shot of ‘International Klein Blue’ - as you may know, blue was the only colour Jarman could really see in the final months of his AIDS-related illness (or maybe the colour suddenly interrupted what he was seeing). Anyway, he died soon after completing this film. A loss still felt today. ’For our time is the passing of a shadow And our lives will run like Sparks through the stubble.
