Wales & West Utilities - The Silent Killer

People in Wales and the South West of England are being urged to watch a film that could potentially save lives. Gas network operator Wales & West Utilities (WWU) has produced a film entitled ’The Silent Killer’, warning of the dangers of Carbon Monoxide (CO) poisoning. CO is a colourless, odourless, tasteless, poisonous gas which can be emitted by faulty appliances powered by any fuel that burns, including gas, coal, oil, petrol and wood. Around 50 people die in the UK every year from CO poisoning, with older people, students and young children particularly at risk. Symptoms include breathlessness, flu-like symptoms, chest or stomach pains and feeling drowsy. More information on the Silent Killer campaign can be found on Wales & West Utilities’ website .
