Today we have our panel of foreign journalists in the studio to touch upon the latest stories here on the peninsula that made global headlines. For this I have Nicolas Rocca here today. Nicolas welcome back. I also have Anthony Kuhn with us. Anthony it’s been a while. 1) Nicolas, pundits here in South Korea believe Pyongyang’s live fire drills this past weekend seek to rattle public sentiment ahead of April’s general election. What are your thoughts? 2) Nicolas, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s sister Kim Yo Jung also sought to mock South Korea’s weapons detection capabilities, and again, pundits here believe the mockery aims to fuel public distrust in the military. Do you agree? 3) Anthony, what’s your take with regard to North Korea’s latest saber rattling? 4) Anthony, you’ve been covering events here on the peninsula for quite some time. How high are the risks of an actual confrontation between the two Koreas given the latest events in your view? 5) Nicolas, the universal understanding is that a common enemy serves to spur unity. But here in the South Korean political arena, concerns about North Korea are doing little to bring politician together. Do you suppose we’ve become inured to threats posed by Pyongyang? And if so, what are the dangers of this reality? 6) Anthony, also on the political arena here. There has been quite a bit of foreign media coverage about the political polarization of this country in recent times. Do you share this view? 7) Nicolas, moving forward, despite their political differences, lawmakers across the aisle appear to see eye-to-eye on the need to address South Korea’s dismal birth rate, and there have been growing calls for lessons to be learnt from France. What can you share with us? 8) Anthony, what do you suggest to better address Korea’s low birth rate? 9) Anthony, staying on the social front here. Another concern is the prevalence of suicides with the most recent high-profile tragedy involving Parasite actor Lee Sun-kyun. Generally-speaking, Anthony, do you suppose Korea holds its celebrities to relatively much higher standards? 10) Nicolas, Lee Sun-kyun was facing drug allegations at the time of his death. Now amid Korea’s fight against drugs, some say the focus should also seek to treat addition instead of simply cracking down on abusers. What do you say?
