This is a drive down Ocean Avenue in Wildwood, NJ, from end-to-end, after tourist season is over, and the classic motels of the 1940s and 1950s stand stoic and empty as the last warm breezes whip in from the Atlantic. There aren’t many towns where you’ll find a large grouping of this motor-inn type lodging on either coast, and it’s my belief that Wildwood stands alone in sheer quantity.
