Aurora Alert: Geomagnetic Storm In Progress - Solar Flare and CME - September 2. 2023.

The expected coronal mass ejection (CME) glancing blow is here. Earth’s magnetic field is now at G1 (minor) geomagnetic storm levels. This CME is the result of solar activity from August 30. The threshold for a G1 storm (a Kp = 5) was reached at 08:10 UTC on September 2, 2023. Visible aurora will be possible at higher latitudes. Another CME is approaching Earth. It left the sun on September 1st. The arrival of this CME on Sept. 3rd could extend the current storm and possibly enhance it to category G2. Solar Flare and CME AR 3413 produced a moderate M3.4 solar flare this morning at 07:12 UTC (Sept 2). The event produced a CME, and we await further analysis to determine whether there could be an Earth-directed component. The active region is now rotating onto the west limb and any potential eruptions at this point will be directed away from our planet.
