Danny Elfman (arr: Phillip Sear) : Alice’s Theme (opening) from ’Alice in Wonderland’ OST

The US musician Danny Elfman (1953- ) is particularly known for his successful scores for the movies of Tim Burton (eg, ’The Corpse Bride’). This piece is my free piano transcription of the opening part of a track from Burton’s star-studded ’Alice in Wonderland’ movie, opening 4/5 March 2010. I created this by listening to the previously released soundtrack and roughly notating the main features as ’aide memoires’. I use the words ’free’ in describing the transcription, as one or two harmonies are not totally clear on the OST - owing to the orchestral balance. Likewise the sung melody may not be 100% correct. Also I have invented some ’fills’ to give some sort of piano approximation of the textures. No doubt, when and if a piano score of some of the tracks is issued, I may be able to improve on it.
