JERUSALEM: Mount Herzl, Grave of Golda Meir, Tram Ride
Mount Herzl, also known as Har ha-Zikaron, is a significant location in Israel, situated on the western side of Jerusalem, adjacent to the Jerusalem Forest. This site holds great importance as it serves as Israel’s national cemetery and hosts various memorial and educational institutions.
Mount Herzl was named in honor of Theodor Herzl, the visionary founder of modern Zionism. At the summit of the hill, you will find the final resting place of Theodor Herzl himself. His tomb stands as a symbol of his enduring legacy and the profound impact he had on the creation of the State of Israel.
In addition to the national cemetery and Herzl’s tomb, Mount Herzl is home to various educational and commemorative facilities that pay tribute to the country’s history and heritage. It stands as a testament to the commitment of the nation to remember its past, honor its leaders, and educate future generations about the ideals and principles upon which Israel was founded.
