Not everything is made of a smooth gradient - most textures and materials can be painted very differently on your miniatures. Whether it’s chipping of warhammer space marine armor or shiny glass on on your D&D chemist, all materials require planning to make them stand out. I specifically introduce some general principles to all textures on your miniatures, but I go more in depth with glass, cloth, wood, fur, chipping and leather. Obviously this was not enough to cover all possible textures that can be painted on your miniatures, but these are widely used by many artists.
