LIVE: Aftermath of deadly floods in western Germany

Ruptly is live from western Germany on Friday, July 16, following heavy rains and floods that left at least 81 people dead and over 1,300 missing. The deaths were reported mostly in the states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate. In the village of Schuld, one of the most badly affected by the rains, six houses collapsed and 25 other buildings are at risk of caving in, according to local police. German Chancellor Angela Merkel sent her condolences to the families and called the deadly floods a “catastrophe“.
