Why the Judge Shut Down Hunter Biden Plea Deal

The saga of Hunter Biden’s “sweetheart” plea deal continues to unravel. Yesterday we told you how the judge did not approve the plea agreement. Federal Judge Maryellen Noreika said she had concerns about the details of the plea and refused to simply “rubber stamp” it without hearing more details as to why she should, and that is where the plea deal fell apart. Normally, the plea deal comes out, and it’s more or less pro forma. But something about this particularly unique agreement didn’t pass the sniff test. That gave the judge pause over signing it, until Biden’s attorneys could provide satisfactory answers, which they clearly could not. As ACLJ Senior Counsel Andy Economou explained: “Usually, a negotiated plea is a very simple matter. Both sides know exactly what they want out of the deal.
