Gathering Storm: Painting the 251 Wurfrahmen 40

Hi back Its time to paint the 1/35 251/1 II Wurfrahmen 40 build from Dragon. History: For the German army during WW2 the was seen as a real improvement for infantry mobility, and added weight to the doctrine of using motorized infantry to accompany the tanks. It was also a well-known propaganda tool in the newsreels, which led most of the Germans into thinking that the bulk of the German infantry was carried by these armoured vehicles. But the reality could not be farther from the truth. Due to its cost and slow production, these vehicles were only allocated to some Panzergrenadier platoons, almost specialized elites within the infantry, and only attached to the best-equipped Panzerdivisions. By September 1939, only the 1st Panzerdivision was partially equipped with these vehicles. By the start of the Western campaign, in May 1940, perhaps five Panzerdivisions were also partially equipped. The famous rocket-launcher version or 251/1 II (also dubbed “ground Stuka” or ’’Stuka on foot’’), used massive 320 mm incendiary 280 mm HE, 300 mm HE rockets, which had the same devastating effect as a 500 kg bomb dropped by the Stuka dive bomber. This was a great kit from Dragon that I thoroughly enjoyed making. It was tough at times and required a fair amount of planning, and a lot of delicate work with fragile pieces. Surprised to say I didn’t accidently break off the antenna or the width markers at any point(came close though), which is a 1st for me 😆 I think it was worth the time spent and I hope you like the video I’ve put together. Not every step is in there, but I tried to include all the good stuff.
