The world of component groups for cycling, particularly for gravel bikes, mostly revolves around two companies, SRAM and Shimano. Both companies are giants in the bicycle industry, their influence upon bikes, ergonomics, standards, usability, functionality and more reaches far and wide. But there are at least four more complete drivetrain manufacturers in the marketplace. One you will definitely have heard of, Campagnolo, others being features, possibly not so much. There are a few smaller companies who could potentially make this list (like that amazing mechanical derailleur by Ingrid), but we’re covering complete shifting groupsets only; this means drop-bar shifters, cranks, and derailleurs.
