Is This Town Beyond Repair?

The Fourth Episode of the Death of the High Street - BOLTON! After it being recommended to me so many time in the YouTube comments, I had to make a visit to Bolton. I was really intrigued heading here, as I felt I had already built up a picture in my head of how bad it was going to me. I knew it had prospered and been seriously wealthy from the 17th century onwards, and I was greeted immediately by amazing architecture everywhere. I did not think it would be such an atheistically nice looking town. There are over 100 listed buildings in the centre alone. I followed my feet and definitely came across a lot of boarded up shops and abandoned places, but I couldn’t help but feel like this place wasn’t as bad as I had predicted. There felt like a lot going on everywhere. A balance between the obvious culprits leaving the high street, M and S and Debenhams. But also there was a lot of positivity about the place. There is also an fantastic market which was great to explore. I met loads of locals who pointed me in the direction of great stuff and it was ace to see people bringing life back to an old Pub. As a big chimney fan myself, I couldn’t not explore some of Fred Dibnah’s past which proved to be absolutely immense.
