Reason was never part of my live beatbox-based electronic music improvisation rig until now. Recently Reason Studios released their latest device, Objekt, a resonation-based modelling synthesiser. I’ve never come across anything that can do what it does. It’s amazing and since Reason was made available as an M1 native plugin it can live in the gigantic Ableton monster that is the Beardytron. And oh my god is it good. Expressive, deep, realistic, expansive, a truly beautiful instrument. With Objekt hosted in Reason Rack plugin, sound designers can give unparalleled expressibility to their synth sounds, escaping the tyranny of the “press note make sound“ nature of digital synthesis. Now your voice, or indeed any source can augment the synthesizers excitation matrix and you can interact with this synth patch like an instrument you play with your voice or any other expressive input.
