The Flaming Lips - Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell

This video was created based upon a song request from my fellow traveler and AI aficionado @liquid50hawaii. I was familiar with The Flaming Lips, but to be honest had not really listened intently to much of their music. When my buddy made the suggestion, and after listening a few times, I was stymied with how the song could be represented within my stylistic creative process. Part of being unable to easily move forward with a creative vision comes from my own concept of Heaven and Hell. Personally, I am inclined to believe that both are simply states of being while we are living within the material realm. But, who am I to state this with any certainty? I freely admit that I simply don’t know. I wanted to imbue a dreamlike, visionary state which included a heavy emphasis on our human egos; hence the myriad eyes looking upon us as the ego might desire. The addition of heavenly imagery (feathered wings, peaceful clouds, etc) relates to how the ego so often deceives us. In this case, believing we are destined for a heavenly eternity, when in fact, it is simply delusion. The opposite of this hypothetical state would then naturally be Hell, as the song title implies.
