The Doobie Brothers : “Long Train Runnin’“ (1973) • Official Music Video • HQ Audio • Lyrics

• Official Music Video • HQ Audio • Standard Volume Level • Lyrics Transcript Provided Below • This video contains optional subtitles for the lyrics, which can be activated and deactivated by simply clicking on the “CC“ button beneath the video. The source video I used to create this one is here: That was the best-quality upload of this music video I could find online, and in fact it was the only one I could find that includes the last half-minute of the song. It misses the beginning of the song, and does not have very good audio quality, so I have replaced the audio track with a high-quality, full-length one, and this involved slowing down the footage quite a lot, as it was running very fast compared to the HQ audio track I am using. To accompany the beginning of the song, I have put up on screen a picture of the single as released in Germany. The first 4 seconds of the footage, which occur in this video between 0:05 and 0:09, were very out-of-sync, with the picture running very early compared to the sound, so I have fixed that. The next 6 seconds were in sync, and the remainder of the footage was slightly out of sync, with the picture running slightly early compared to the sound, so I have fixed that. I have also cropped the edges of the picture, just enough to clean them up. I have also added optional subtitles for the lyrics. I have also upscaled the resolution from 480p to 1080p, as this increases the bitrate, which slightly improves picture quality at all the different resolution settings the viewer can select and allows for the highest-quality audio, but please be aware that playing it at the 1080p setting is not going to make it look as good as a true 1080p video. This song was written by Tom Johnston, and produced by Ted Templeman. According to Wikipedia, this single reached No. 8 in the band’s native USA and in Canada, No. 10 in the Netherlands, No. 11 in South Africa, No. 15 in New Zealand, No. 58 in Australia, and No. 64 in Germany. A 1993 remix of the song reached No. 7 in the UK, No. 14 in Ireland, No. 34 in Belgium, and No. 67 in Australia. For more information on this song and track, see these pages: ’ I currently have two other videos which feature the Doobie Brothers, and they are these: The Doobie Brothers : “Listen To The Music“ (1972) • Official/Unofficial Music Video • HQ Audio The Doobie Brothers : “Slat Key Soquel Rag“ - Live in Berkeley, 1982 • Music Video • HQ Audio I have been unable to find an official presentation of the lyrics to this song. Presented below and as optional subtitles in the video is my own transcript of the lyrics, and to help me in figuring out what the correct lyrics are I have referred to the presentations found on lyrics websites and guitar notation websites, I have looked at the pictures of sheet music that are freely available to view, and I have watched videos of live versions of the song. Lyrics: “Long Train Runnin’“ - The Doobie Brothers (Words and Music by Tom Johnston) Down around the corner A half a mile from here You see them old trains runnin’ And you watch them disappear Without love Where would you be now Without love You know I saw Miss Lucy Down along the tracks She lost her home and her family And she won’t be comin’ back Without love Where would you be right now Without love Well, the Illinois Central And the Southern Central Freight Got to keep on pushin’, mama ’Cause you know they’re runnin’ late Without love Where would you be now, na-na-now Without love [Break] Well, the Illinois Central And the Southern Central Freight Got to keep on pushin’, mama You know they’re runnin’ late Without love Where would you be now Without love Well, the pistons keep on churnin’ And the wheels go ’round and ’round And the steel rails are cold and hard For the miles that they go down Without love Where would you be right now Without love Ooh, where would you be now Mmm Got to getcha, baby, baby, won’t you move it down Won’t you move it down Baby, baby, baby, baby, won’t you move it down Till the big train run And the train’s a-movin’ on You got to keep on movin’ Keep on movin’ Keep on movin’ Got to keep on movin’
