Dean & Jo || this is me trying (au)

Hey guys. I’m back with something a little different this time. Life has been challenging recently, and to help me get through it, I’ve been turning to music, which is where this song comes in and the idea for this video. I’ll admit I’m a new fan to Taylor’s music. I’m only familiar with Folklore and Evermore, but I love both those albums, and ’this is me trying’ found on Folklore just so happens to be my favorite song by her, since the lyrics just strike a chord with me. Well, what else that’s seeing me through these days is my rediscovered love for Dean and Jo, both their story as it was written, but also the potential of it, if Jo had only had more screentime as was initially planned. Anyway, so those two things combined inspired me to come up with an original story featuring these characters in a more realistic setting, where really there’s nothing ’supernatural’ going on at all. It’s just real life and the struggles that come with it. I hope the story is clear and makes sense. I’ll leave a summary down below to fill in the gaps. I have to say this was both very fun but also challenging to make given the limited footage of Jo. I had to rely on some of Alona Tal’s other works to make it. I just hope the end result is enjoyable to watch and that you all like it at least a little as much as I’ve come to love it. Thanks as always for your continuous support on my vids. It means the world to me. Much love, Jo ❤ Summary: Both Dean and Jo are lost souls. Jo dropped out of school, despite being a promising student, due to the bullying she received from her peers. Dean, struggling to cope with the death of his mother and failing to live up to the expectations of his overbearing father, has landed in and out of jail more times than he can count. It is on one lonely night that the two of them meet, at Harvelle’s Roadhouse no less, a bar owned by Jo’s mom Ellen and late father Will, where Jo has been working as a bartender since Ellen picked her up at school and where Dean is spending the night getting wasted after his father bailed him out of jail once again, this time after an attempted robbery. The two of them find an unexpected but easy kinship in each other and their shared struggles, quickly becoming an item when they meet up at a party in town and Dean saves Jo from a guy harassing her. They then spend the night together and Jo tells Dean that he is the one that will save her from her problems. But that is when tragedy hits, and Dean, attempting to take Jo home from a night out, gets in a terrible accident. He walks away from the crash but Jo is rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Thankfully though, she survives the accident, although the incident leaves a strain on their relationship when Ellen, angry and upset that Jo had been nearly killed, reveals to her daughter the truth of her father’s death, that he had been killed in a similar accident by a man named John Winchester, who had been driving drunk. Jo, reeling from the news, tells Dean then the truth of their fathers’ intertwined past and tells him to leave, to never come back. Dean walks out and the two of them go back to living their separate lives, until Dean, racked by guilt, decides to call Jo up to apologize, only to get her voicemail. He then makes the impulsive decision to drive back to the Roadhouse to apologize to her in person. When he enters the bar, Jo is surprised to see him at first, but the two of them soon make up, realizing that both accidents were neither of their faults, and decide to start over, knowing that while they both have issues and unhealed hurts, they are better off in it together.
