Release date: 21/6/2024 Buy record: The ’Sail We Must’ EP by Irish producer Signa Rust draws inspiration from Alfos, reflecting a mutual appreciation for slower-paced sounds around the 100/110bpm mark. Crafted primarily with analog gear, it’s a track that embodies hope and is dedicated to Signa’s late father. The saying “fail we may, sail we must,“ an old fisherman’s adage, resonates throughout the work, honoring his lifelong career in the industry. The opening track unfolds with a 303 and a uniquely twisted synth arp, then shifts gears with the introduction of strings, infusing the piece with a sense of hope and serene joy. ’13.0 TeV’ begins with the characteristic 808 percussion sounds, mingled with dubby samples that create a Rastafarian ambiance, followed closely by the 303’s simmering acidity, before escalating with a distorted pad sequence. The EP concludes with Will Flisk’s remix of ’13.0 TeV’.
