Rien Schalkwijk - Cantabile No. 5 “La Primavera“ | VU St. John’s Church

Today I’d like to share with you the newest piece by my YouTube organist friend and supporter @RienSchalkwijk, Cantabile No. 5 “La Primavera“. I recorded it at Vilnius University St. John’s church and added some diminutions in the recapitulation. The composer writes: “This piece is full of vibrant life! Play it slow, play it fast, play it classic or jazz it up, play it soft or bold! It’s all up to the performers discretion. Written in G major with a smooth modulation to D major and back. The middle part can be jazzed up (Like I improvised in this performance) or played classic style in kwart notes as written. The trumpet switches from the tenor to the soprano and bursts out in joy! The last part is more mellow, but, of course, you can add the trumpet to spice up the piece up! A joyful piece, from my heart to yours! Enjoy!“ Score: You can listen to Rien’s rendition here: Join this channel to get access to perks such as custom weekly members-only tutorials and others: We support Ukraine: If you like what I do, you can buy me some coffee: PayPal: My Hauptwerk setup: Total Organist - the most comprehensive organ training program online: Secrets of Organ Playing - When You Practice, Miracles Happen!
