Russian Duma votes to raise max compulsory military service age for Russian men from 27 to 30

Russian lower house on Tuesday passed a bill raising the maximum age at which men can be conscripted from 27 to 30. It also bans men from leaving the country from the day of their call-up. The bill, which will come into effect on Jan. 1, 2024, still needs to be endorsed by the upper house and signed by President Vladimir Putin to become law. Under the current law, all Russian men aged 18-27 are obliged to serve in the military for one year. With the new bill, students, people with chronic illnesses are no longer exempted from conscription or given a deferment. Legally speaking, conscripts in the Russian armed forces are not allowed to be deployed outside Russian borders. __________________ ShanghaiEye focuses on producing top-quality contents.
