👉Intonation in English is like the melody of our words when we talk. It’s how our voices go up and down, like a musical tune. When we ask a question, our voices go up at the end, and when we say something with confidence, our voices go down. Intonation helps us show our feelings and make sure others understand what we mean. So, it’s like adding special feelings to our words when we speak! Keep listening and practicing, and you’ll get really good at using intonation to express yourself in a fun and clear way!
👉 What are the types of intonation in English?
🔴 Rising intonation
🔴 Falling intonation
🔴Fall-rise intonation
👉 What is rising intonation?
When you use rising intonation, your voice goes up, just like when you’re asking a question. It’s like saying, “I’m not quite done yet, there’s more to come!” This type of intonation is awesome for asking questions or showing that you’re curious about something.
👉 What is falling intonation?
This type of intonation is awesome for making statements or showing that you’re sure about something. For example, when you’re telling a friend about a fun fact, you might say, “Did you know that penguins can’t fly?” See how your voice goes down at the end? That’s falling intonation in action!
👉 What is fall-rise intonation?
We use fall-rise intonation when something is incomplete or we are uncertain of something or we still want to continue the sentence and it is not finished yet.
