Better than Biryani! I baked a prawn & tomato Pot Rice in my wood oven! Bro made Sago|Traditional Me
Though I was planning to make tomato rice since there were plenty of tomatoes at home, I changed that plan as Uncle Siriwardena brought some fresh prawns from the Negombo main fish market (Lellama). Yet I was a bit upset as the tomatoes were fully ripened and I was afraid that they would be spoiled by tomorrow. So I got a super idea to make tomato rice mixed with these prawns. My dear brother left for my elder aunt’s house to give some prawns to them, promising to return quickly to get the wood oven ready and heated up for me to make the prawn pot rice. But to my annoyance, he never came back home for hours.
So with all my other work, I started to get the wood oven ready by putting the firewood as I couldn’t wait for him anymore. When I was preparing the oven halfway through only he returned home and I was a bit annoyed too. He didn’t come home empty-handed as always but with 3 big fresh pineapples and with one of his usual excuses as always. With his story of having made a pineapple salad with our younger sister at my elder aunt’s place, and then I started to worry a bit about the effect of these two dishes of prawn curry mixed with tomatoes and pineapple salad on our bodies as they were both heaty food items. I completely forgot to add some moringa leaves to the prawn curry to mellow the heaty effect of the prawns as I was very busy and preoccupied with getting the wood oven ready on time. On top of that worry, my brother brought a pineapple salad for lunch also.
Anyway even though our dear brother does some silly things on and off, I must admit that he also does some amazing things with his innovative and quick-thinking brain. Since I was worrying about these two dishes’ impact on our body heat, he suddenly came up with a sago dessert to have after lunch. Actually, this sago dessert was so simple and mind-blowing, with an excellent taste and it gave me such emotional and body relaxation too. Drinking a glass of lime juice, with a mixture of mint juice was so familiar as it was a common thirst quencher. But it was very difficult to imagine that unique and fruit-bursting taste when the same taste was in each sago seed as if I was biting and tasting a pomegranate seed nectar from each seed. This was why I gave such credit for my brother’s genius cooking expertise and creativity. It was an entirely different experience with a new prawn and tomato pot rice and a unique sago dessert that completed our lunch table. It is so refreshing to experience new food innovations in our lives. These new taste creations, add unforgettable refreshing memories to our lives all the time.
Love you All!
