Castlevania Chronicles II - Simon’s Quest (PC) - Full Playthrough, No Death

Game: Castlevania Chronicles II - Simons Quest v1.2 Author: WarMachine Studios Platform: PC Completed: February 28, 2023 Rules: Beat the game after collecting all items, remains, subweapons, and whips, all while never dying once. Out of nowhere I heard that there was a brand new fan-made Castlevania 2 remake for the PC with all new graphics, sound, and some extras. Being a big fan of the original NES version, there was no way I could pass this one up. Now that the leather whip only challenge is complete and version 1.2 is released, I decided to do a 100% completion, no death run. This playthrough collects all items, remains, subweapons, and whips and gets the “good ending“, all without dying once. I also tried to make creative use of all the subweapons at times, just for fun. Here are some highlights: 20 seconds - This is just a fun thing that happens when you choose “Continue“ when there is no save file. Aaaaah! Does this now count as a “one death“ run before it even started? 3 minutes, 10 seconds - Do rapid taps on the stairs for maximum enjoyment. 20 minutes - You’re supposed to crouch for a few seconds with the blue crystal here like in the original, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you need to be standing at the edge of the platform. Safety first! 22 minutes, 40 seconds - This is an odd area that I think you can only get to if you’re hit in a specific way. In previous versions there was a chest up here with a small amount of money but in version 1.2 there seems to be nothing. 33 minutes, 20 seconds - This wolfman got frozen in place here. That’s fun. 40 minutes - The lightning that strikes this boss when he dies can hurt you. Beware! 41 minutes - Make sure you dance to Battle of the Holy. It’s an amazing song. 43 minutes, 50 seconds - There’s a bit of a glitch here in version 1.2 when you enter the town of Alba from the right side. It starts you in the church instead of the beginning of the town. 45 minutes - This woman likes you. Make sure to say hello for no reason. 50 minutes, 55 seconds - You can face away and still get the lightning to strike here if you’re very precise. You can also jump “out of“ the fall here. I see no reason to do either of these tricks. Who is the guy in the tree though? 55 minutes, 30 seconds - I forgot to demonstrate this fully but Carmilla cannot be damaged by your whip shortly before, during, and after she’s firing her big blast. Subweapons can still damage her in this state though so toss a knife or something to get that extra damage in. 58 minutes - Here’s a nice trick to handle the ghosts. It even works on the floating platforms if you need to do it there. 1 hour, 16 minutes, 50 seconds - Here’s a fun way to use the cross/boomerang. 1 hour, 22 minutes - The key thing to know in this boss battle is that while Trevor is flashing after being hit, he cannot hurt you. This is your chance to slide past him and strike the others. 1 hour, 40 minutes, 20 seconds - The axe subweapon is useful against the final boss so I max my hearts here. 1 hour, 42 minutes, 30 seconds - This part is so beautiful that I had to stop and watch. Warmachine Studios did a fantastic job here and I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys the original. Actually, even if you dislike the original or haven’t played it, play this game! “Castlevania Chronicles II - Simon’s Quest v1.2 - 100% No Death“
