Mega Man X6 - Commander Yammark Perfect Run (No Damage, Uncharged Buster-Only, No Upgrades)

Today, we jump into the mess that is Mega Man X6 and take on a Perfect Run of Commander Yammark. To any X6 fans out there, I apologize for my previous comment. While there are bits and pieces of this game that I enjoy, overall, the level design isn’t very good, and the thought of doing Perfect Runs for some of the later levels in the game terrifies me. On the bright side, being part of the Playstation 1 trilogy of X games, we have beautiful graphics to look at, and in X6’s case, a phenomenal soundtrack. Anyway, Yammark is my recommended starting stage for this game, and I know that others start here, as well. The stage may have a relaxing theme, but the enemies here certainly aren’t. The most problematic pest here are the praying mantis enemies scattered all about the stage. They take many hits to kill, and their ability to summon several smaller bugs in addition to throwing their scythes makes them quite the nuisance. Be sure to get away from them as soon as you defeat them, though, as they’ll regenerate after a brief moment of time. Aside from those enemies, the rest of this stage isn’t too bad, all things considered. One part that may give a bit of trouble aside from the encounter with Yammark is the Caterpiride section in the cave, namely the end of it. To get through here, you just need to safely hop from one Caterpiride to another to avoid the spikes below. The Killer Moths (that don’t really look too “killer“) will try leave some cute sparkles near you, however, don’t be fooled, as those sparkles will actually cause you to take damage. Just wait it out a bit before you advance and you’ll be fine. Near the end of this section at 1:35, you’ll have trust your gut as you won’t be able to see the spikes ahead. Make those two jumps safely and you’ll be out of the cave. After passing through the last swarm of mantises, we have Commander Yammark himself. Because of his glorious eyelashes, I thought Yammark was female, but sadly, he isn’t. It’s a shame we haven’t really seen a female Maverick, but I digress. While I’m getting a bit sidetracked, I feel that I should mention that if you want to read the pre-battle dialogue (and the many typos X6 delivers), feel free to pause the video at those points. I’m sure you already tried doing that, but I just wanted to give a friendly reminder, ha. Anywho, Yammark will spend most of the fight relying on his army of dragonflies to pelt you with bullets. One of his more frequent moves is for them to rapidly fly up and down while firing to no end. Luckily, you can destroy this bullets with your own. When the dragonflies take this formation, try shooting up and down to safely protect yourself while slowly damaging Yammark. After a bit, he’ll start to change up his formation. The dragonflies will circle him and after a second or two, he’ll move straight forward based on where you were before he started moving, firing several bullets in your direction. This move can be dangerous if he’s sticking close to the ground, however, if you move him away from it, you can cause him to fly above you and completely miss you. As you fight Yammark, try taking him out as soon as possible. When he reaches half health, he’ll begin his “Formation Final“ move that can really mess up your run. The dragonflies will form a line behind him, and he’ll constantly home in on your current location. As far as I can tell, I don’t think there’s actually a way to safely dodge this move without taking damage. Maybe you could try ducking and dashing under him, but don’t quote me on that. My best advice is to simply blast away before he even has the chance to use it so you can easily secure your victory without anything else getting in your way. Created using WeVideo.
