GANNA - VESNA (ft. Grycja)

VESNA is a song that praises life. It is based on an old spring song from Ukraine that sings of the end of winter and the awakening of nature and new life. At the beginning of the russian full-scale invasion in Ukraine, I was mostly incredibly desperate. But at some point I learned that the will to live and carry on is much more valuable and an active form of resistance. And so I decided to arrange a song that would be uncompromisingly life-affirming and high-energy song to remind myself to keep going. And I hope so much that it can give at least some little positiv energy to all of you! The original old song comes from the village Lysets´ (Khmel’nyts’ka region), it was discovered and recorded by the Polyphony Project (collaboration with the laboratory of folklore music department of the Lviv National Music Academy). Ganna Gryniva - voice, arrangement Musina Ebobissé - tenor saxophone Povel Widestrand - piano Tom Berkmann - upright bass Mathias Ruppnig - drums
