Exile performing “Kiss You All Over“, released originally in 1978.
It reached #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100, #1 in New Zealand, #1 on the Australian Charts, #2 on the Canada Top Singles, #2 in Sweden, and #6 on the UK Singles Chart.
“Kiss You All Over“ was the brainchild of Mike Chapman, who wrote and produced the song with his partner Nicky Chinn. Chapman moved from England to Los Angeles in 1975 and discovered Exile, a band he signed to a management/production contract. He wrote and produced “Kiss You All Over“ for the band, which became a monster hit, shooting to #1 on the Hot 100, where it stayed for four weeks.
Exile is an American band originally formed in 1963. In the 1970s, they were known as a rock band that had a major hit single with “Kiss You All Over“ in 1978. After several lineup changes, the band was re-launched as a country act that achieved additional success in the 1980s and ’90s.
The origins of Exile were with a high school band in Richmond, Kentucky, called the Fascinations. They merged with another local band and became Jimmy Stokley and the Exiles, with J.P. Pennington joining a short time later. This version of the band released a self-titled album on Wooden Nickel Records in 1973. They toured regionally for the next several years and had a minor pop hit with “Try It On“ in 1977.
