We are addicted to our phones. There’s no avoiding that fact. After finding myself mindlessly scrolling more often that I’d like, I was inspired to create this piece for a live production.
This piece seeks to communicate two key messages; firstly, that there is a stark contrast between the pictures we see on social media and what the person actually feels, and secondly, the anguish and sadness that can result from a desperate desire to be the perfect online person that is validated by likes and comments.
Most of all, I hope that my friends and family never let their feed make them feel anything less than extraordinary.
It was hard to translate the same story to video without stage lighting, but with Phillip Trinh’s magic touch, it came together.
