The guy making the announcement was a nationally known British voice artist, BBC and pirate radio disc jockey and announcer called Pete Drummond. A man of some standing (a man who today would be called a ’celebrity’, but we hadn’t invented them in 1979) walking in to a College Rag Week crowd was likely to get a cream pie in his face, especially if we’re talking national TV.
