The alleys sparkle, the windows and facades of the half-timbered houses are carefully decorated, the light garlands adorn the trees and fir trees and the delicious scents perfume the imperial city. In Kaysersberg, emotions and discoveries accompany your stroll. Intimate, the Christmas market perpetuates the customs of Advent and invites you on an enchanting journey, in the purest spirit of Christmas. History of Kaysersberg: Due to its strategic position which allows control of transit between Haute Alsace and Lorraine (via the Col du Bonhomme), the Kaysersberg valley has been occupied by soldiers since Roman times. At the beginning of the 13th century (around 1218), the fortress was built. It is the beginning of the prosperous period of the city, under the control of the Hohenstaufen family. Kaysersberg became imperial city of the Holy Empire in 1293. Christmas is about family reunions and reuniting with dear friends.
