Rio Sucuri - karst river system

Footage from the Sucuri river, a karst river in the Bodoquena plateau of Mato Grosso do Sul, western Brazil. Due to the clarity of the water (as it has just emerged from the source spring and not yet been clouded by detritus from the forest) light penetration is high, creating ideal conditions for many aquatic plants, a number of which are popular in aquaria, such as Bacopa australis, Echinodorus macrophyllus, Helianthum bolivianum, Hydrocotyle vertilicata, Myriophyllum tuberculatum and Nymphaea (especiall N. gardneriana).
