DISCUS Women World Youth Lille

Quite a good competition between the top three girls with American Shelbi VAUGHAN taking the lead in the 1st throw with 52,58m until 4th round where she was overtaken by Chinese Yan LIANG 52,89m and final winner the impressive Cuban Rosalia VASQUEZ 53,51m. New Zealand Siositina HAKEAI , one of the top 3 in the rankings did not make it to the top 12 because of her primitive technique and her team mate Merewarihi VAKA finished 9th after landing her best attempt out of sector at 50m level. Curiously you have to go down the 7th place to find the 1st European , German Katinka URBANIAK. Australia got 2 throwers in the top 6 and they were technically like copies of Dani SAMUELS . This video shows most of the best throws of this competition . It shows also the poor watching conditions from the “coaches reserved area“ where we had to be satisfied after being hunted away from the famous “forbidden stands“ and where we could finally be given a couple of chairs after hard negotiations ... !
