Printing a very patriotic cut for the anniversary of the adoption of the Star-Spangled Banner

We have the perfect new cut in our print shop for today’s video! On March 3, 1931, The Star-Spangled Banner was officially adopted as our National Anthem. While Francis Scott Key would pen the words in 1814, it was not until Congress passed a joint resolution to make the song the official national anthem of the United States, which President Herbert Hoover signed into law on this day in 1931. For today, Howard letterpress printed an electrotype from the Al from New Jersey Collection. While we cannot definitively put a date for when this cut was made, the image of the flag only has 48 stars on it so it was made at least prior to 1959. This cut was recently gifted to us by Al and this was the first time we printed it! #onthisday #todayinhistory #NationalAnthemDay #nationalanthem #americanflag #usflag #art #powerofthepress #SacHistoryMuseum #sacramento #museum #history #letterpress #printingpress #asmr #printing #youtubeshorts #youtube #shorts #short #shortvideo #oldsacramento
