To buy books on subscription - To regularly receive a specified number of books by paying in advance for a subscription. At exorbitant prices - At a very high price that is much higher than is reasonable or fair. Borrow a book from the library - To take a book from the library for a period of time and then return it. To work round the clock - To work continuously, without rest or a break, 24 hours a day. Pursue education - To actively seek out knowledge and education in a particular field or subject. To burn the midnight oil - To work or study late into the night. 03:03 - Did you go to the library as a child? To evoke memories - To bring back or recall memories from the past. To summon courage - To gather or muster the courage to do something difficult or frightening. Lash out - To suddenly and strongly criticize, attack, or speak angrily towards someone or something. In this day and age - In the current time period, often used to imply changes or advancements that have occurred over time. I’m leaning towards a negative answer - Expressing a tendency or inclination towards giving a negative response. 07:10 - Are libraries popular in your country? A bygone era - A time period or era that has passed and is no longer current or relevant. Fiction books / fictional publications - Written works that are not based on real events or people. My assumption - My belief or understanding of something without definitive proof or evidence. Hugely popular - Extremely popular or well-liked by a large group of people. Join the ranks of clay tablets - Become obsolete or outdated, like clay tablets that were used for writing in ancient times. 09:45 - What kind of people would go to a library to read and study? Pursue a (PHD) degree - To actively seek and work towards earning a doctoral degree. To do scientific research - To conduct or carry out research in a scientific field. In search of (books) - Seeking or searching for a particular book or type of book. Lifelong bookworm / serial bookworm - Someone who has a lifelong love of books and reading, or someone who reads a lot of books in a short period of time. Stentorian (voice) - A loud, powerful, and commanding voice. place of adobe - place of living A live being: any organism that is alive, whether it be a human, animal, or plant. To study in (the) peace and quiet: to study in a calm, quiet environment without distractions or disturbances. A sanctuary of solitude: a place of refuge or safety that offers privacy, seclusion, and the opportunity to be alone. Unwind: to relax and release tension, often after a period of stress or activity.
